Cut Counterparty Risk:

Our CCP (subject to regulatory approval) will transform how digital asset markets manage risk. Learn how the clearing process works.

Clearing Membership

ClearToken’s clearing membership is designed for institutional participants seeking secure and efficient access to digital asset markets. As a clearing member, firms benefit from our centralised counterparty clearing model, reducing counterparty risk and optimising capital deployment.

Our membership categories cater to different market participants, including trading firms, liquidity providers, and prime brokers. Each applicant undergoes a rigorous onboarding and risk assessment process to ensure the resilience of our clearing ecosystem.

Firms can become direct members or access clearing indirectly.

Direct Membership

Our clearing members play a critical role in fostering trust and market integrity, supporting the long-term growth of digital asset markets.

There are two direct ways to join ClearToken’s Digital Clearing Service:

  • General Clearing Members (GCMs): Market participants and their clients can leverage the robust and regulated clearing infrastructure by becoming direct members of the clearing house. GCMs contribute to the default fund, meet regulatory and operational requirements, and manage their own margin and clearing operations.
  • Individual Clearing Members (ICMs): Firms that may not have full clearing infrastructure, but still clear directly with ClearToken. ICMs benefit from netting and margin efficiencies without needing to build their own post-trade stack.

This tiered structure ensures that firms of varying sizes and capabilities can participate in the market efficiently.

To ensure that we provide the most trustworthy option for clearing and settlement in the market for digital assets, ClearToken will only partner with entities that meet our strict and rigorous criteria, in addition to regulatory standards.

Indirect Access

Market participants can also access clearing indirectly via Prime Broker or Clearing Member relationships using access methods such as DMA and Sponsored Access, similar to traditional cleared markets where a large percentage of participants clear through these arrangements.

If you are unsure what your options are, please reach out to our Partnerships team.

Get Involved

Join Our Design Consultations’ CCP Working Groups

Whether you are a trading firm that will require a clearing firm, or interested in becoming a Clearing Member, we invite you to join our working groups.

Through our working groups, you can help shape product specifications for cleared fungible perpetual futures, spot and repo markets as well as validating standards and procedural development.

  • Product design: e.g. contract specs, asset class/instrument prioritisation and market access.
  • Operational topics: e.g. rulebook and procedures.
  • Risk topics: e.g. risk margin, variation margin, default fund and default procedures.

ClearToken is dedicated to “building with, and for, the market“. Your input is vital in designing the future of cleared digital asset markets and ensuring the functionality of the future ecosystem.

Reach out to Partnerships to learn more about CCP working groups and be part of the future of cleared digital asset markets.
